Building an ant farm is fun and exciting to do. There are some things you will need to know before you run and try to start an ant farm on your own. This way the ant farm is built right and your ants will enjoy where they live. If you want to make an ant farm from scratch here is how to:

  • One Large clear glass jar, fish bowl, or you can use a tank.
  • Ants
  • Dirt
  • Smaller clear jar or a clear tube

Now it is simple, place the small jar into your larger container. This will keep the ants tunneling on the outside where everyone can see them. Then go outside and find yourself an ant hill. Dig up the sand and place it into the jar. Then capture as many ants as possible. Make sure to get an ant that is bigger than the others and the queen ant. The queen ant may have wings. You may also scoop up the eggs and such to put in your ant farm as well. You can get an already made ant farm if you choose to.
